What an eyebrow transplant is really like, step by step

Much of the apprehension around an eyebrow transplant comes from not knowing exactly what happens that day. So let's tell the whole story, hour by hour: it is an outpatient procedure, under local anesthesia, lasting 4 to 6 hours — and you walk out on your own two feet with your new brows already in place.

Before anything else: the design at the mirror

The day starts without instruments: it starts with a pencil and a mirror. We draw the shape directly on your skin — head, body, arch and tail — respecting your features and your expression, and adjust it with you watching until you say 'that's me.' Nothing gets grafted outside that drawing. It is the most important phase of the day, and it is not closed until you approve it.

The extraction: your own nape as the donor

With the design approved, we move to the donor area: the nape of the neck, where the hair matches the brow's fineness and is genetically resistant to shedding. After the local anesthesia — a few pinches, the most uncomfortable part of the day — we extract the follicles one by one with the Long FUE technique: no scalpel, no stitches and no linear scar. The area is concealed by your own hair from day one.

The sorting: follicle by follicle

Each extracted follicle is checked under the microscope and classified. For a brow we select single-hair units — the ones that give the most natural result — and sort them by thickness and curvature to decide where each one will go.

The implantation: the Oriental technique, angle by angle

This is where naturalness is won or lost, and where the Oriental technique comes in: each follicle is thoroughly cleaned so it can be implanted following the angle and direction of the brow's original hair: almost flat against the skin, upward at the head, fanning through the body, outward and downward at the tail. It is hours of artisanal work — and it is exactly what separates a well-done transplanted brow from one that 'shows.'

How long does it take, and what does it feel like?

This is how you leave the clinic
